Human Resources Management HRM

Human Resource (HR) Management can be defined as the effective use of human resources in an organization by managing people-related activities. It is a central and strategic organizational activity of increasing complexity and importance. This course covers the range of HR activities all managers need to understand: strategic HR, legal issues, staffing, recruitment and selection, performance management, training, compensation, labor relations, and technical support systems. Through interactive lectures and cases, trainees become familiar with human resource management’s basic principles and techniques. The course takes a practical view that integrates the contributions of the behavioral sciences with the technical aspects of implementing the HR function in the real world.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the trainee will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  1. Explain the various functions of human resource management and identify their relationship to the workplace from the perspective of both employee and employer.
  2. Apply the principles of human resource management to the oil & gas industry in the areas of hiring, compensation and benefits, and government legislation.
  3. Identify social issues relating to human resource management such as systemic discrimination and develop approaches to resolving these problems in the workplace through various methods learned in class.
  4. Identify and predict human resource management trends in the oil & gas industry and develop proactive solutions and techniques of adaptation to changing industry demands.
  5. Synthesize the depth and breadth of knowledge, knowledge of methodologies, application of knowledge, and communication skills.
